Description
The printed design is of broken squares in brown and pink printed on a cream ground.
The front has four pleats into the shoulder seams, ⅛" wide and about 5" long, spaced over 1".
The collar is peach cotton voile, 2" wide at the centre back, widening to 4½" wide at the front ends; it has a ¼" wide binding of the printed voile on the edge and the same inside the neck edge. The armholes are bound with peach voile, ³⁄₁₆ " wide; there are no openings in the front, back or sides.
A band of the voile, ⅝" wide, is top-stitched down the centre front and a peach voile waterfall frill is pleated into its right hand edge, 3¾" wide at top narrowing to 2¼" at the waist. The edge is bound with a ¼" wide binding of the printed voile and the edge of the folds have a stitch on to the pleats in three places to hold the frill in position.
The self belt is ¾" wide with loose ends at the centre front to tie in a bow; it is attached to the dress with stitches at the centre back, the centre front and the side seams.
The skirt is gathered into the seam at the dropped waist with four rows of stitches, ⅜" apart, and the hem is finished with a ¼" wide peach voile binding.
