Description
The rayon satin is cut on the bias.
The two panels over the bust are double layers of the satin, and have deep darts at their base. The top edge of the front is trimmed with a pale pink embroidered net lace edging, ⅞" wide; the back has a machine-stitched hem ³⁄₁₆" wide. The shoulder straps are ⅜" wide, top-stitched ¹⁄₁₆" in from their edges.
The hem has the same lace edging, 1¼" wide. A tuck of about ¼" has been taken above this, presumably by the wearer, as it is hand stitched in pale grey thread and embroidered on the right side in feather stitch in matching pink silk thread.
The slip was made under the Utility Scheme by Marks and Spencer, and the label with the utility mark is sewn inside at the top of the right-hand side seam.
