Description
The shoes are in glacé kid, which is leather that has been given a glossy surface by ironing or polishing.
They are fastened with a wide strap buttoned over the instep, which is an extension of the quarters; this divides into three bars over the instep which come together at the end with the three buttonholes beside the three-pointed end. The front of the vamps have jet bead embroidery in a triangle shape, which continues round the top edge and joins rows of beads on the straps.
The Louis heels are 2" high and covered with the leather; the soles are a pale tan leather, and the sock is black but the colour shows signs of rubbing off through wear. The label is printed there in gold; it says Kendal Milne & Co.Manchester, the shop was established in 1831 and by the 1900s it had become a large department store.
The shoes have been very well worn.
